Running a cannabis store isn’t all sunshine and smooth hits. I’m facing a decision that’s been keeping me up at night: Should I sell my store to a bigger competitor like Discounted Cannabis or Uncle Sam Cannabis?
Let me break it down for you because this isn’t just about dollars—it’s about survival, trust, and keeping my spot in Windsor.
My Dream Location—Now Under Threat
When I opened my store right next to 7-Eleven and the best barbershop in Windsor, I thought I’d struck gold. Foot traffic? Check. Local love? Double-check. It’s the perfect spot, and I poured my heart and savings into this dream.
But now, these competitors are circling like vultures. They’ve made it clear: “If you don’t sell, we’ll move in right next to you.” Yeah, they said it outright. That’s the kind of cutthroat business tactics you deal with in this industry.
Their Offer: Insultingly Low
Here’s the kicker: their offer is a measly $55,000. I mean, come on! That’s barely enough to cover the sweat and tears I’ve invested, let alone the premium of this location. Selling feels like giving up, but holding on means fighting an uphill battle.
The Hard Truth About This Business
Let me tell you something: you can’t trust anyone in cannabis. Deals fall through, suppliers bail, and people smile to your face while plotting behind your back.
My Challenges
- Inventory Issues: I can’t keep up with customer demand. My shelves should be packed, but cash flow is tight, and suppliers aren’t exactly rushing to help the little guy.
- Funds to Expand: Upgrading the store and increasing stock takes money I just don’t have. Without it, I’m running on fumes.
The Risks of Selling
If I sell, I lose control. These big players will swoop in, probably push cheap products, and erase everything I’ve built. But if I don’t sell, I might get crushed anyway—because let’s face it, competing with a giant isn’t easy.
What Would You Do?
I’m torn. This store means everything to me, but the cannabis business is ruthless. Do I stand my ground and fight for my dream? Or do I sell and move on to something new, knowing I didn’t have the resources to make it thrive?
One thing’s for sure: this industry is not for the faint of heart.
Let me know in the comments: Should I sell my store, or fight the big guys? Your advice might just help me make the hardest decision of my life.
